Heavy Rain in Solan: All Schools, Colleges and Anganwadi Centres to Remain Closed on August 26

August 25, 2025 09:59 PM

Solan (HD News): Continuous heavy rainfall has disrupted normal life in Solan district. Landslides and blocked roads have created difficulties in transportation and movement. In view of the situation, the district administration has announced the closure of all educational institutions in the district on Tuesday, August 26, 2025.

According to the notification issued by the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), chaired by Deputy Commissioner Manmohan Sharma, all government and private schools, colleges, ITIs, polytechnics, nursing and vocational training institutes, along with Anganwadi centres, will remain closed for the day. The decision has been taken keeping in mind the safety of students, as the Meteorological Department has issued an Orange Alert warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall in the region.

However, the order clearly mentions that teaching and non-teaching staff must remain present in their respective institutions and continue with official duties. All concerned departments and institutions have been instructed to ensure strict compliance with the order.

The district administration has appealed to the public to stay alert, avoid unnecessary travel and follow weather advisories to ensure safety.

With continuous downpour and landslides causing disruptions, the administration has prioritized the safety of students by ordering the closure of all educational institutions in Solan on August 26. Residents are urged to remain cautious during this period of adverse weather conditions.
