Himachal: Landslide Strikes Bus with 28 Passengers, Panic on Highway but All Safe..

August 26, 2025 08:48 AM

Himachal Pradesh (HD News): A major accident was narrowly averted on Monday evening when a private bus carrying around 28 passengers was caught in a landslide. The incident took place around 5 PM on a busy highway stretch, when heavy debris from the hillside suddenly rolled down onto the road.

According to eyewitnesses, the moment the soil and rocks began falling, passengers inside the bus panicked and chaos broke out. Screams and cries filled the vehicle as the bus came under the impact of debris. Fortunately, no casualties were reported, and all passengers were declared safe.

Following the landslide, traffic came to a complete standstill, leading to long queues of vehicles on both sides of the road. Authorities and police teams rushed to the spot immediately after receiving the information. With the help of JCB machines, relief and clearance work was started without delay. After nearly one and a half hours of effort, the debris was removed, and traffic was restored.

DSP Dehra, Anil Kumar, confirmed the incident, saying: “A private bus was caught in the landslide, but thankfully all passengers are safe. Normal traffic movement was restored shortly after.”

This incident once again highlights the vulnerability of hilly routes during the monsoon season. While no lives were lost, the passengers went through a terrifying experience. Authorities have urged locals and travelers to remain cautious while traveling on mountain roads during this period.
