Shimla (HD News): In a major crackdown against the illegal LPG mafia, the Shimla district administration on Monday seized 372 illegal gas cylinders and three vehicles during a surprise raid near the SJVNL office, Shanan. The swift action came after a tip-off received by the district authorities.
District Magistrate Anupam Kashyap informed that acting on the secret input, Additional District Magistrate (Law & Order) Pankaj Sharma led the raid at the office of Sanjeev Kumar Gas Agency, which was authorized only as a super stockist but found violating multiple regulations. The team included Narender Dhiman (District Controller, Food & Civil Supplies), Anita Thakur (Food Supply Officer), Head Constable Vikram, and Constable Vikas.
During the inspection, the officials confiscated 240 filled LPG cylinders (21 kg), 116 empty cylinders, 4 empty cylinders (12 kg), 1 empty cylinder (14.2 kg), and 35 pressure regulators. Three vehicles – HP 63C-8101, HP 63-0383, and HR 67E-3833 – were also impounded on the spot.
Crackdown Extended to Rohru
The drive didn’t stop in Shimla. In a parallel action at Rohru subdivision, a team led by ASI Vinod Kumar, Head Constable Parminder Kumar, and Food Supply Inspector Rajat Deshta seized 11 more illegal cylinders during inspection.
Zero Tolerance on Public Safety – DC Shimla
Issuing a stern warning, DC Shimla Anupam Kashyap declared that those supplying illegal LPG cylinders to hotels and dhabas will face the harshest possible action.
“This is a matter directly linked with public safety. The administration will not tolerate such illegal trade and strict punitive action will be taken against all violators, ” Kashyap asserted.
This decisive action by the Shimla district administration has sent a clear message – there will be zero tolerance for those jeopardizing public safety. No matter how powerful the LPG mafia may be, the administration is determined to crush such illegal operations, with even tougher actions expected in the coming days.
